Castle Creation's CC-BEC Switching Regulator

What the heck is a CC-BEC?
Our Battery Eliminator Circuit is a little device that eliminates the need for a receiver and servo battery pack. It draws higher voltage from the motor batteries and drops it to a voltage level that is suitable for your receiver and servos. This is required in applications which draw high power for multiple servos or use more than 3S motor packs, as most ESCs with linear BECs are not designed for these applications.

CC BEC is better because it is smaller, cheaper, and far more powerful.

See the CC BEC User Guide for more details.

Web Site Updated with New Products and Pricing Info.

We added several new Hitec servos and the new Berg receivers, We should have the new Castle Creations BEC in stock soon.

Kit prices have been increased slightly. Our cost to produce our kits has gone up over the last year or more and we have tried to delay this price hike as long as possible. Thanks for your understanding and support of this very small hobby business.

eSKA Kit is Now Shipping

eSKA has been available to local flyers for a couple of months now. This was the first run of eSKA kits. It's amazing how many flyers in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area of Minnesota have purchased this new kit. Even some glow flyers have made eSKA their first electric kit. ElectroFlying Models is now ready to accept orders from around the country and world. The kit costs $50, which includes free shipping to the 48 contiguous United States. (Shipping to Canada is $15 extra. Check with us about shipping to other locations before you order.) Checks must be in US dollars.

I will be updating this web site over the next few days to have more information about eSKA and how to order. For now, click on the "Order Now" Button for information on how to order with check payment. (I hope to have credit card processing in the future.)

New eSKA Kit - Available In a Few Weeks.

I have been test flying the 3rd prototype and having a blast with this new design. As a small, fly-anywhere electric-powered airplane, eSKA may be my new favorite airplane. I have flown it at a couple of local meets, and almost everyone who watches it fly wants one. This may turn out to be a very popular kit.

The third prototype is flying with an Astro .010 geared motor and 3 Series 1200mAh High Discharge Kokam LiPoly cells. I am using a 10 x 7 APC slow flyer prop and drawing about 7 amps static. This setup provides over 110 watts per pound of input power. It goes straight up without any problem. Top speed is about 35 mph and yet lands very slow. I have been getting 20 minutes of aerobatics or 50+ minutes of level flight. This version has landing gear and still weighs only 11.4 ounces.

The eSKA kit has been engineered to build very light, strong, and fast. Most parts are interlocking to make building fast and accurate. It is possible to frame-up eSKA, ready to cover, in about 6 hours.

eSKA is a really nice laser-cut kit and flies fantastic.

Fusion wins 1st Place Best Sport Plane Award
at Mid-America Electric Meet

I had a great time at Mid-America demonstrating Fusion. I guess Fusion made a good impression and won 1st Place Best Sport Plane Award.

I met a lot of really nice people including John Houvener who built a Fusion. Johns was the 2nd customer completed Fusion that I know of. Due to some radio problems, John lost his Fusion just before Mid-America, but I got to see some pictures of it. John has a new Fusion kit and will be building a replacement this fall.

I would like to say thanks to Keith Shaw, Ken Myers and all the members of the Midwest R/C Society and the Ann Arbor Falcons for all their hard work putting on the event. I hope to be back next year.

Phasor powered Fusion Test Flight Report

I had a great couple test flights today of the Fusion (fourth prototype) pictured to the left. This Fusion is powered by the Phasor 45/3 brushless motor and 16 CP1700 cells. Flying weight is just under 80 oz., which is 22 oz. lighter than the original prototype. I am using an APC 10 x 7 electric prop spinning at 11,400 RPM. and 27 amps static.

Wow, this Fusion really flies great - lighter is better! This airplane is really fast and covers a lot of sky in a hurry. Big loops and stall turns are no problem. Not quite (but very close) unlimited vertical flight with this set-up, but I'm sure it would be possible with a 11" or 12" prop and a little more current draw. I flew for 6+ minutes and still had about 350 mAh left in the pack. I will try some RC2400 batteries in the future. This will only add 8 oz. to the airplane and should extend the flight times.

I also saw a Fusion built by Ron Fichtner (the first customer- completed Fusion) with a Phasor 45/3 motor fly today. He was using a 11" x 7" prop and 16 RC2400 cells. His seemed to be a little faster than mine.

After More Than a Year of Planning and Work,
ElectroFlying Models is Ready for Business.

We are proud to introduce our first kit, Fusion, a 500-watt sport aerobatic electric-powered R/C aircraft. This airplane has been in development and testing for over 2 years. Click on the Leading Edge Kits button to the left for more information. Fusion kits are ready to ship - order yours today.

It is our intention to bring you the best kits designed for electric power - kits that were designed to be electric-powered, and not just another conversion of an old fuel powered design. We have plans for several sport type designs, from Speed 400 park flyer size up to 600 watt size. We also have a few scale designs in the works.

We will carry a full line of motors, speed controls, batteries, chargers, receivers, servos, and many other electric-flight related items.

Check back often - we will be adding new products and information weekly.
